This 8 day short tour concentrates on the island of Santa Isabel in the northern part of the Solomon’s archipelago. This is the home of some of the least known and rarest birds on the planet including the shy and retiring Black-faced Pitta, the Solomon’s Frogmouth, Woodford’s Rail and the awesome Fearful Owl.

Day 1 - Arrive Honiara
Fly Brisbane to Honiara.
Day 2 - Fly to Fera and transfer to Buala
Take the early flight to Fera on Santa Isabel and transfer by boat to Buala.
Day 3 - 5 -Birding Tirotonga
Meet with guide and hike up to Tirotonga. Explore the Tirotonga area. This is home not only to the Black-faced Pitta and Fearful Owl but also to a full supporting cast of parrots and pigeons and other great birds such as Santa Isabel (Woodford’s) Rail, Sanford’s Sea Eagle, Solomons Frogmouth and White-billed Crow.
Day 6 - Tirotonga to Buala
Morning in Tirotonga then hike back down to Buala.
Day 7 - Tasia & Honiara
Morning boat trip to Tasia for Island Monarch. Afternoon flight to Honiara.
Day 8 - Honiara birding before onward flights
Take an early morning guided bird tour up Mt Austen just outside Honiara to look for Ultramarine Kingfisher and Buff-headed Coucal, Yellow-bibbed Lory etc. Return to Honiara in time for the afternoon flight back to Brisbane.
