Dry Season Special
Cape York – Iron Range – Fly in/Fly Out (FIFO)
Got a few days to spare and looking for something different? Why not try a Cape York Fly In/Fly Out birdwatching tour. We run several of these each year. In the Dry Season we run them for those who want to visit Iron Range but only have a few spare days or who don’t like long drives. We usually run the trips as standalone private tours or as part of a longer tour and adjust the itinerary to suit the clients time. It offers an excellent introduction to Cape York birding.
The Iron Range area has a good variety of habitats including mangroves, heathland, vine forest and the coast so there is lots on offer to look at. It has the largest area of lowland rainforest in Australia. As well as sharing birds with New Guinea it also shares some of its animals and is the only place in Australia to see endearing cuscus. See the endearing Common Spotted Cuscus. The beautiful Green Tree Python is also shared with New Guinea.
