With stunning scenery, friendly people, beautiful birds and animals and one of the tastiest cuisines in the world, Sri Lanka is a must visit destination. Although a relatively small island Sri Lanka has a high level of biological endemism. 16% of Sri Lankas fauna and 23% of its flora are endemic to the island. Sri Lanka is has recorded over 450 species of birds of which 25 are endemics. Many are spectacularly coloured and remarkably confiding others are far more difficult and need patience and perseverance. It also has over 120 species of mammal, 171 species of reptiles, 106 species of amphibians, and one of the world’s largest populations of blue whales and sperm whales, Sri Lanka is truly an animal-lover’s dream come true.
