Vietnam

For some time now, Vietnam has been a popular tourist destination. It is a country of outstanding natural beauty and has one of the world’s great cuisines. It is known for its beaches and rivers, its Buddhist pagodas, its colourful history and its bustling cities. Tourism is now an important part of the economy and every year people from all over the world come to see the sites, eat the food and enjoy its ambience.

Vietnam is however, much more than beaches and cafes, museums and river cruises. For a long time the possibilities of birding and wildlife watching in Vietnam have been largely ignored. It has one of the richest avifaunas of any south-east Asian country and is home to some of south east Asia’s rarest birds and animals. Around 916 species of bird have been recorded (depending on the taxonomy you follow). 19 of these are considered endemics and a further 27 are near endemics. It has a good network of national parks many of which are well equipped with hides and walking tracks.

While we have set itineraries for Vietnam, we can also customise itineraries to fit the time you have available. Short breaks and even day tours are available for people who are visiting Vietnam on business or as a stopover on a longer journey.
